American-born Renée Treml moved to Australia in 2007, where she was immediately captivated by the unique wildlife in this country. Drawing on her background in ecology, Renee’s illustrations capture our favourite Australian animals beautifully, each one displaying their own unique character and charm.
Renee's illustrations are created using a technique called scratchboard, which uses a board covered with a thin layer of clay. After hand-drawing the animal, Renee adds further detail by scratching through the layer of clay with a fine blade, revealing the white clay and creating beautiful dimension and detail in her illustrations.
The stoneware cup has been slipcast and glazed by hand, creating a gorgeous organic feel with no two pieces exactly the same. Renee's illustration decal print has been applied by hand and fired again in the kiln for maximum durability.
This 12oz cup (approx 340ml) is great for all coffee types, including tea and iced coffee.
